特朗普表示，美元“正变得过强”，强势美元最终会伤害美国。特朗普认为，美元变得过强是他的错，是由他的信心所导致的，实际上他更偏爱低利率。虽然，美元坚挺有其好处，但一般来说，最大的好处就是听起来好听。在美元坚挺而其它国家允许其货币贬值时，美国的竞争力将会有所下降。
