美国东部时间周五，美国财政部宣布对波斯湾石油化工工业公司及其39家子公司实施制裁，理由是该公司为伊朗伊斯兰革命卫队所属的建筑公司提供金融支持。波斯湾石油化工工业公司是伊朗最大、效益最高的石化企业，其产出占伊朗全国每年石化生产量的40%以及出口量的50%。
美国财长姆努钦表示，“此举是为了警告任何向伊斯兰革命卫队提供经济支持的组织”。美国国务卿蓬佩奥则称，该政策是美国对伊朗“极限施压”的新举措，将会切断伊朗政府“破坏中东稳定”所需的经济来源。

另有消息称，也门叛军胡塞武装再度对沙特境内目标发动无人机攻击，地区紧张局势面临新的升级。也门叛军胡塞武装控制的Al-Masirah电视台周日发推称，该组织出动无人机对位于也、沙边境的Jizan机场发动了多次袭击，袭击目标还包括机场附近的掩体和车站。但沙特方面没有对此予以证实。
